DFA Meeting - Feb. 1 at Borders

It'll be caucus, caucus, Dunkelbarger, caucus, blog, Bonifaz, caucus.

Time: 7 PM
Place: Borders in Braintree
Date: Wednesday February 1st

Since many of us are on town slates for Deval Patrick on February 4th, we will discuss what is happening in our towns and in campaign.

Should we endorse progressive candidates? If so, what we can do to help out?
Who should we endorse?
Patrick? Dunkelbarger? Bonifaz?

Leave other ideas for agenda items under comments. See you on the 1st.

Book club zeros in on Republican Noise Machine

On Wednesday, January 18th, the Reading Progressively Book Club will meet at 7 PM in the coffeeshop at the Barnes and Noble Bookstore in Hingham (exit 15 off Rte. 3) to discuss David Brock's The Great Republican Noise Machine about the emergence of the right wing media. Brock should know. He was part of the machine and wrote a smear book on Anita Hill as well as the state trooper story for the American Spectator which opened up the Paula Jones law suit. His book Blinded By the Right documents his turn away from the dark side. He is now the editor and founder of the Media Matters website where he holds the lies told in the mass media up to intense scrutiny.

None of this nightmare, from the election of George W. Bush to the Iraq War, could have happened without the full cooperation and complicity of the mass media. Look at the smear machine beginning to work on John Murtha's war record . . . a slowly percolating echo chamber of lies and innuendo.

BUZZFLASH

See you on 18th
